My greatest fear

Failing to hold onto dreams and purpose in the chaos of modern life.

When music stops, and silence hurts,
my greatest fear is the relentless killing, 
where hatred prevails and people surrender,
there’s nobody to take a stand,
and rationality is heard no more.

Since, there’s no one left 
no one to feed the hungry minds and bodies...
fear will remain fear, 
a poesy of hate and sadness.

My greatest fear:
to spend my life not doing what I love,
investing my heart and soul,
struggling to achieve what someone else desires,
waking up too tired and too late,
with nothing left to sow.

I fear not death of the body,
but the death of dreams and spirit,
the perish of empathy and forgiveness,
the scarcity of all that is good and beautiful.

As shadows and darkness
become my only friends,
I fear not death,
as music stops and silence hurts.
